10 for 2010: Part Four – Washed Out

Washed Out is the moniker for young musician Ernest Greene from Georgia, who makes fuzzy, dream pop – dare I say chillwave music. Having already released a couple of EP’s in 2009 (‘High Times’ and ‘Life of Leisure’) Washed Out are getting a lot of attention.

Pitchfork gave ‘Life of Leisure’ a score of 8 for that EP and 2010 is set to be a big year for Washed Out, and this new wave of chillwave bands from America. Likely to be banded with the likes of Neon Indian, Real Estate, Memory Tapes, Small Black, Toro y Moi and so on. Washed Out will be the band on everyone’s lips this year.

With such dream pop songs such as ‘Belong’, ‘Get Up’, ‘Feel It All Around’, ‘Lately’, ‘New Theory’ and several more it is hard not to see how Washed Out won’t make it big in 2010.

An album is in the pipeline for 2010 and it will be interesting to see exactly what Washed Out will do with a full length record. Exciting times lie ahead for young Ernest Greene along with followers and musicians of the chillwave scene exploding into our ears right now.
